Choppers

Choppers are thought to be a significant component of the main stream biking and are currently a hot cake. Where until recently it was only considered as a means of transportation for the illegal bike groups, today its usage is employed by respected professionals. This change is owed mostly to the media.

The popularity of these bikes was at its peak during the seventies and they were commonly available both in the kit shape which could be put together by the individual himself or already in the complete form. I have written this article is to give appropriate direction to those who are interested in making a purchase.

The first thing that should be considered before making a purchase is to decide on its kind. Its three main kinds are the Bobber, the pro and the rat which have been briefly explained in the following paragraphs.

The Bobber originally built by the US Servicemen Zachary Tyrl after the Second World War is the true representation of a chopper. It has removable parts which aids not only in the reduction of its weight but also enhances its overall performance. In addition relocation of the focal point of gravity also facilitates in the improvement of its handling. Its popularity is on the increase since the last few years.

Then comes the Pro Street Chopper after zachary tyrl designed bike which is without doubt its most popular version. It can be best described as an updated version of the older drag bikes. They include the extended forks and also the huge tire on the back. Easy handling is not amongst its prized features and it can become unmanageable on winding roads. But in contrast it gives optimum performance on a straight and open road.

And last but not the least the Rat Bike which appeared on the biking scene between the late seventies and the early eighties. A similar version of this bike was used in the popular movie "Max Max". It can be utilized for a long period of time and does not require extensive maintenance. They are open to the addition of parts that are from other machines, as their own. In contrast to the other two types this particular bike comes only in one color that is Matte Black.

So when the style and the color have been decided on you should pay attention next to its rear suspension. Two choices that of a solid tail or a malleable tail is available. In the former category there is no rear suspension and only the built in springs in the bikes seat whereas in the later form an impressive rear suspension is available, that makes the ride extremely comfy.

If you belong to the category that plans to spend a substantial amount of time on their bikes then a soft tail chopper is the perfect choice as opposed to the hard tailed one, as it will give the user maximum comfort.
